When will I get my order?
Kinkel Jewellery is a small local business that handcrafts each piece of jewellery to order, so we need time to create your beautiful new pieces. Orders typically take 6 to 12 working days to complete, depending on the order size and the time of year, excluding shipping.
We do keep some stock of certain pieces in our studio, so if you need a quick gift, feel free to email us and ask what’s available for immediate shipping.
We begin manufacturing once we receive your payment and will notify you when your order is ready for collection or shipping.
How long will it take for my package to get to me?
Shipping time depends on the destination of your package. Local deliveries around Cape Town (areas between Muizenberg, Blouberg, and Stellenbosch) typically arrive in 1 to 2 days. National deliveries across South Africa take 2 to 5 days, with certain outlying areas requiring an extra day or two.
If you need your order faster, we can arrange overnight or same-day shipping upon request. This option is available if your order is already completed or the item is in stock.
We’ll provide you with a tracking number once your order ships, allowing you to track your package and know when it’s out for delivery.
How much will shipping cost me?
Collection at our Studio – Free
National Courier Fee – R80
Overnight– R120 – 200 (courier fee will be calculated depending on your area)
Please note that we cannot send packages to P.O. Boxes, and someone must be available to sign for your package. If the courier is unable to complete the delivery due to a customer-related issue and the package is returned to Kinkel, the customer will be responsible for covering the repeat shipping costs.
Can I ship my order internationally?
Can I collect my order at the Kinkel Studio?

How do I order a custom or personalised jewellery piece?
We specialize in designing and creating custom jewellery pieces. Whether you’d like to personalize one of our online shop items by adding an engraving or birthstone, or you’d prefer a completely new design, we can bring your vision to life.
To start your custom piece, simply fill out our easy form. Based on your idea, we’ll provide a quote according to the design. Please allow a few days for us to create a specific design for you. Once you’re happy with both the design and quote, a 50% deposit is required. After receiving the deposit, we will begin manufacturing.
Custom jewellery takes longer to make than our ready-to-ship pieces, with a lead time of about 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the design.
You’re welcome to bring in your old jewellery, gold, or diamonds, and we can transform them into a brand-new piece.
Please note that quotes are only valid for 7 days due to fluctuations in gold and dollar prices. While custom jewellery pieces cannot be returned, we ensure you’re 100% satisfied with the design and every detail before production begins.
Do you make engagement or wedding rings?
Yes, we specialize in custom-made, bespoke pieces and would love to be part of your special day. We focus on creating high-quality jewellery with a lifetime guarantee.

In what metals do you work?
We work exclusively with three main precious metals: sterling silver, gold, and platinum. All our pieces are crafted from solid, locally sourced, quality metals. We use no alloys that could cause allergies or plating that might wear off and discolor your skin. We are committed to creating high-quality jewellery with a lifetime guarantee.
Gold is available in yellow, white, and rose, and we use only 9ct and 18ct gold.
You’re welcome to bring in your old gold jewellery for us to melt and rework, or to sell for credit.
How do I get my ring size?
The most accurate way to measure your ring size is to pop into our studio or any other jeweller close to you to get your finger measured. But I know that you are probably comfy at home doing your online shopping and there is no time for running to your nearest jeweller. So we have put together a handy Ring Size Guide for you to measure your ring size at home.
All jewellers in South Africa use the same measurement system, which is measured in letters.
There is also a handy conversion chart in the guide if you want to convert your size from another countries’ sizes.
Keep in mind that on a really hot or cold day your fingers might increase or decrease in size. Broader bands will also fit tighter than thin bands.
We offer one free ring sizing per ring order if your ring does not fit correctly.
Our ring sizes come in the following sizes on our online shop. If you would like your ring made into an exact size, please just leave us your ring size in the note section of your order at checkout.

How do I take care of my jewellery?
It is important to take good care of your jewellery to make it last longer and keep it sparkling. Silver will tarnish black over time when it comes into contact with moisture, chlorine, beauty products, perfume and cleaning products; therefore protect your jewels as best you can from these products. When you are not wearing your jewellery, keep them in a dry and dark safe place. Some people do have very acidic skin which can cause silver to tarnish. We offer Rhodium plating which form a coating on silver jewellery to avoid tarnishing.
The best way of keeping your jewellery shiny is to just wear it! Jewellery loves being worn and don’t want to sit in a box all the time. When you wear your jewellery it will rub on your skin, clothing and surrounding items which will keep it from tarnishing.
If your jewellery becomes dull and starts to lose its shine, you can clean it with a soft toothbrush and some warm soapy water and dry it with a soft towel. Also take care of your gemstones by handling them with care and keeping them away from harsh chemicals. Pearls are particularly susceptible to damage and scratches easily.
Feel free to come to the studio to get your jewellery polished free of charge or to purchase a polishing cloth.
Is your jewellery allergy proof?
Yes, all our jewellery are made from solid precious metals which do not contain any bad alloys that can cause allergies. We also do not plate our jewellery, so there are no layers that will rub off and make your fingers go green.
All the jewellery on our online shop are made from solid sterling silver and 9ct Gold.

We hope that every customer will be very pleased with their jewellery piece, but if you are not satisfied with your item we will be happy to refund you. We are happy to say that in the six years of running our business we have only returned one or two items at most. If the piece is returned to us within 7 days, unworn, unused and undamaged, in its original packaging we will refund you in full (excluding shipping). As we are still a small business, we however cannot cover the costs of returning the jewellery to us. The customer will be responsible to return the jewellery to us by their own means.
We make sure to make use of sturdy packaging but in the case that your jewellery is damaged when the package is opened or if you haven’t received the piece that you had in mind, please contact us within 48 hours so that we can replace your item.
